Here is why endurance is important.

Endurance has always been considered as one of the most important aspects of sport. within all the sports, the player must have at least an amount of endurance so he can play/practice for a good while. Basketball is no exception to this rule.

The basic basketball's movements require a good amount of energy, shooting, dribbling, running... Some people even call basketball the fastest sport, why? Because in basketball you'll never stop, if you aren't scoring, you are trying to get the ball, if you're not trying to get the ball you're doing screens, if you're team don't have the ball you're on defense. That means that basketball may require endurance even more than other sports.

If you want to play all of the 40/48 minutes of the game, you need to have a strong stamina that can only be strengthen by regular practice and hard work.

Try to practice basketball daily and add some running's sessions to your program, or even better, you can practice shooting. Shooting for a straight 30 minutes will make you exhausted more than you've ever been. But don't push it too far, when you feel real pain, you can stop, basketball injuries are the most frequent and really hard to deal with them.
